Daily Reflection: 2 May 2024

Several times in my life when people hear that I’m gluten-intolerant, they say something like, “Boy, wait until they make a pill that masks the symptoms and then you can eat it again! That’s gotta be so hard staying away from all the yummy things with gluten in it.”

I always say with a smile on my face, “Well, even if there was such a pill, I’d never take it. I know what gluten does to my body and I’d rather say no to it than just mask the symptoms.”

This always makes people a tad defensive.

Why?

Because too many want the easy way out.

To truly thrive though, there is no easy way.

To truly get in shape, you have to workout consistently and eat well.

To really earn your degree, you have to work hard. You learn nothing having AI write for you.

To compete well in any sport, you have to practice and train.

To build a business, you are going to have to work hard and take risks.

To have a good relationship with Christ, you are going to have to try. It’s not enough to believe. You have to remain in His love by keeping His commandments. There is no easy way to live Christianity well. However, the closer you draw to Christ, the easier it becomes to fully follow His teachings and those of His Church.

Anyone who offers you a quick fix or an easy way out is selling you a lie, Catholic Pilgrims. Anything worth anything will require sacrifice, diligence, effort, and a willingness to get uncomfortable.

Live the Faith boldly and travel well this Thursday.
