Daily Reflection: 18 February 2024

Oh, how I love the angels.

Sometimes, I don’t think we even realize how often they show up in Scripture. When I did my study on angels a few years back, I was struck by how often they minister to different people.

I love the image of the angels ministering to Jesus in the desert while He fasts, prayers, and is tempted by Satan. Not that He would fall to temptation, but it’s still comforting to be surrounded by those that love you when you are stripped of comfort.

I hope we all remember that the angels will minister to us, as well. When life is trying, when we are suffering, any time we feel temptation, or loneliness, we can call on them and they will strengthen us. I call on the angels quite often in my life.

As we move through this Lenten season, Catholic Pilgrims, don’t forget to ask your guardian angel, St. Michael, St, Gabriel, or St. Raphael to come to your aid, especially if you are struggling with your Lenten penances. They want to help you and God wants us to call on them.

Have a blessed First Sunday of Lent.
