Daily Reflection: 12 January 2024

Before I met my husband, I wasn’t a big traveler and I did not like getting out of my comfort zone.

But, when you marry a military man who gets wanderlust every two years and is spontaneous to the nth degree, well, it rubs off on you.

Now in my life, if it’s been awhile since I’ve visited a new Catholic place, I get antsy. The need to go on a pilgrimage, even if it’s a mini one, starts to gnaw at me.

So, this weekend, we are heading to St. Augustine and I’m excited to share the churches there with you and the history; you know I love telling about the history of a place. I’m looking forward to making a few videos and seeing the oldest continuously inhabited city in the US.

I know not everybody loves to travel or can and that’s why I enjoy bringing these special places to you all.

So, stay tuned, Catholic Pilgrims!

Side note: While my husband has cultivated a love of adventure in me and helped me to be more spontaneous, we will never agree on how to pack for trips. If he had it his way, I’d wear one outfit and maybe be allowed a small backpack; packing what I need in my pockets would be even better. His dream is to just run from place to place, dirty in the same clothes for days on end, but free from luggage.

I can’t live this way. I need a suitcase. Yet, in his mind, he always envisions us dragging suitcases down cobbled streets in some foreign land while I’m trying to keep up in high heels and forcing him to carry all our luggage on his back.

This has never happened…except VERY briefly in Portugal and it was fine. Totally fine.

😎

Have a blessed Friday!
