Daily Reflection: 3 January 2023

Yesterday, I was reading through some comments on a reel I put up about about a year ago where I was standing outside Mary’s house near Ephesus.

One woman said to me in the comments, “Remember Jesus, He is the reason for the season.”

I responded back to her by saying, “We do remember Jesus. All over the world, every day, at every hour, Mass is being said somewhere to worship Our Lord and partake in Holy Communion with Him.”

Today in my prayer time thinking on the Holy Name of Jesus, I thought about this woman’s comment. I thought about the Mass and how often we invoke His name.

We start the Mass with the Sign of the Cross.

Throughout the Mass, we call Jesus by the names of Christ, Lord, Son of God, Word of God, Lamb of God, only Begotten Son, Savior, and more that I’m probably forgetting.

We end the Mass with the Sign of the Cross. Nearly everything we do in the spiritual life, we begin it by signing ourselves in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

The woman that commented assumed that because I was talking about Jesus’ mother, I was somehow ranking her first. But she neglects to see and understand that the reason we speak of Mary is BECAUSE she is Jesus’ mother.

The Holy Name of Jesus is spoken around the globe at all hours during the Mass said every day throughout the world. He is so important that the Catholic Church understands that He needs to be praised continually here on earth, just as He is in Heaven.

May His Holy Name be ever on our lips, Catholic Pilgrims; the Name that is above all names.

Have a blessed Wednesday.
