Daily Reflection: 29 March 2023

“You came back down to Earth

To find that I had cursed the world you made.” —The Arcadian Wild

To the man He said: Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, you shall not eat from it,

Cursed is the ground because of you.” Genesis 3:17

There are so many good things in the world: Our Christian Faith, families, nature, good books, beautiful art, music that stirs us, the snuggles of a child, Mass and the Sacraments.

Even after the Fall, God still blesses us with these wonderful things.

And I know you feel the attack on all these things like I do.

Adam and Eve had paradise and, yet, they just couldn’t be satisfied with it and whenever we aren’t satisfied with good, true, and beautiful things, we will spin into chaos and destruction. Our attempt to get something “better” never pans out.

We cannot outdo God.

All those good things that I mentioned above are under attack. We know it and see it with our eyes. We are told that they need to be under attack because those attacking them have a “better” way. “Tear it all down!” they say.

But they cannot outdo God. Christianity, families,, nature, beauty, babies, and the Sacraments are all inherently good and so removing them in order to replace them with something “better” is impossible.

But people try and all it does is breed destruction.

Because of Original Sin, Catholic Pilgrims, we will have to toil, sweat, and bleed in this life, especially if we want to preserve the good things God has given us. It will not be easy, but it is worth it.

Live the Faith boldly and travel well this Wednesday.
