“Then the Lord God formed the man out of the dust of the ground.” Genesis 2:7
Before Lent started, I explained that I was going to read through the Garden of Eden story in Genesis this year for Lent. There are some songs by the band Arcadian Wild that lyrically match the readings in the Bible so beautifully and those lyrics each day will be overlaid on the picture.
God didn’t have to create us. He didn’t need man to help Him feel complete. However, He created man out of pure love and still does to this day. God is love and He wanted to share His love.
And so out of the dust of the ground, He formed us and man “awoke” to have communion with God.
That has always been the plan—to be in Communion with God. The Fall severed that once pure and perfect union.
But, during Lent, Catholic Pilgrims, we can accompany Christ in the desert. The desert offers clarity. Prayer, fasting, and almsgiving “wake up our sleepyheads” that have nodded off with the distractions of the world.
It really is possible to return to that communion with God.
Have a blessed Thursday.

Awesome music!!! Thanks for sharing this with us! What a great way to start the journey of Lent!
I love it so much. The fourth song, Winter, brings me to tears every time. But, we’ll get there.
